At least they're an ACC team, I guess

The championship game was last night and as I figured, the Tar Heels won. Basically, I hate Illinois. I think they suck ass and were never worthy of a #1 ranking for the ridiculous number of weeks they held such position. The Big 10 was WEAK this year, so of course they were undefeated until the fluke at the end of the season when Ohio State beat them. Basically, they suck. As much as I hate North Carolina with a fiery passion (because I will be a Blue Devil until the day I die, and I still will probably be even in Hell too) they are still from the ACC. The ACC is the best basketball conference in the country, hands down. The Tar Heels were the true test, and Illinois failed miserably. The only way I would have given them any credit whatsoever was if they could beat North Carolina, a far superior team. Alas, Illinois sucked ass throughout the entire game and were beaten by a team much better than they could ever hope to be. I think with as many upsets as there were in this tournament (remember the team that used to be the Kansas Jayhawks?), this does not count as a typical "upset". I heard some of the commentators saying some stupid bullshit about how the #2 ranked team (that would be UNC for those of you who are slooooow) upset the #1 team, that is not an upset. An upset is when a 14-seed beats a 3-seed (again a Kansas reference, I just love the fact that Kansas really sucked it hard at the end of the season.)

Of course I am disappointed Duke felt they needed to lose to Michigan State but lets face it, we were not as strong this year as we have been in the past and Coach K did amazing things with this team and we still got a #1 seed in the tourney. I think it is pretty craptastic JJ Redick didn't win the Naismith, but Bogut got it because everyone loves an Australian accent. Oh, and he's a pretty decent player too. Don't worry though, I have faith in Redick, he'll get it next year, as long as he doesn't slump at the worst possible time (i.e. TOURNEY TIME like he did this year.)
